Dr. Farka joined the Department of Economics
at California State University, Fullerton in August 2005. She
received her Doctorate degree in Economics from Columbia University,
New York, in 2004, with concentration in financial economics,
macroeconomics, and applied econometrics.
Prior to joining Cal State Fullerton, Dr. Farka worked in Wall Street, first as a research consultant and later as an economist with Deutsche Bank, New York, were she was responsible for designing econometric and macro-based currency models. Part of a team that was consistently ranked number one by Institutional Investor Magazine, and Euromoney Magazine, Dr. Farka's responsibilities included fostering and promoting public relation contacts with various clients and institutional investors, central banks, international organizations, and the media. While at Deutsche Bank, Dr. Farka published daily, weekly and monthly reports which were featured on two flagship Wall Street publications: Deutsche Bank Exchange Rate Perspectives and Deutsche Bank FX Weekly. As research associate for the Institute of Economic and Environmental Studies at CSUF, Dr. Farka has developed national and regional models that are used to forecast economic variables for the annual Economic Forecast for the Nation, Southern California and Orange County and the Midyear Update. Together with Dean Puri, Dr. Farka co-presents these analyses in the annual and midyear economic forecast conference -two of the most popular and respected events in Orange County. Dr. Farka works closely with the Executive Council of the County of Orange in producing the "Orange County Strategic Plan". Her expertise in economic and financial forecasting is continually sought by other governmental and private entities such as: Orange County Office of the Treasurer, Riverside County Office of the Treasurer, and Deutsche Bank. A native of Albania, Dr. Farka came to the U.S. in 1994 in order to pursue her undergraduate studies at California State University, Fresno. In addition to her passion for finance, Dr. Farka is an avid reader of world literature, history and historical fiction, likes to travel, and is an ardent fan of the NBA and of her native country's sport - soccer.
